190,000 rifles and pistols missing
I read in an article by Glenn Kessler of the Washington Post that the pentagon reportedly lost track of 190.000 assault rifles and pistols given to Iraqi security forces in 2004 and 2005. This sounds to Me like a whole lot of weapons to lose, but what do I know? This may be a very average number of weapons lost by any given army at any given time. Has it came down to the point where, with no so called victory in sight Our wise leaders have decided to arm everyone in Iraq and let what happens, happen? That would really be war on the cheap. Also in the WP was an article july 27 that told about the U.S. military plan to arm Iraqi sunni residents," to improve security and promote reconciliation at the neighborhood level." Gee whiz, that sounds like a brillant idea. Maybe this same logic could be applied here in the USA where gang violence is becoming quite a problem in Our cities. Law enforcement agencys could simply hand out weapons to the various gangs and let them go at it. After while, all fall down, gang problem solved. Of course there would be some innocent bystanders falling down too, but what the hell? You got to break a few eggs, don't ya know.
