Years End

The new year is almost here and there is a lot of shit happening in this old USA. The Republicans have managed to put together a freak show of presidential wannabes like I have never seen in all of My 61 years. The so called "war on terror" goes on, the trashing of Our constitution continues. G. W. is still in charge and capable of working all sorts of mischief in 2008. In 2007 We have seen Our Democratic Congress cave into the Texas Terrorist's demands again and again. Iraq is still suffering from the illegal occupation by Our military. The Neocons rave about the progress in Afghanistan while the Taliban gains more territory and the opium production is up. Don't get Me wrong, I'm all for opium, what I'm against is the constant bombing of of a people Who pose no threat to the USA under the guise of protecting Us from Terrorists. The Bush administration plans on allowing big lumber to bulldose Our national forests and destroy wildlife habitat all for the sake of profit for the corporations. Jesus Christ what's next? Fuck it, more later. Happy Holidays Y'all.

Sen. Larry Craig

I have tried to ignore the media frenzy over Larry Craigs mensroom antics, I think there are more imporant things going on in the world that need reporting. But, I thought about it some more and think that just maybe there is a lesson in this. Now, I personally could care less if Sen. Craig is gay or not. The problem I have is that, If He is gay He is a hypocrite of the first order. If He is not gay, why did He plead guilty to anything? Just for grins and giggles Let's say that He's not gay. He claims He was under pressure and pleaded guilty to disorderly conduct in an attempt to make it go away so to speak. Now it seems to Me that if this is the case, He is either stupid, or doesn't function well under pressure. I would think that a US Senator really shouldn't be stupid, and should be able to operate in a reasonable manner under pressure. I mean The man votes on issues that affect millions of People. I believe that He should just go away and do something else for a living.

What is this crap?

AP Writer Anne Flaherty reports: Sen. John Warner, a prominent Republican on military affairs, urged President Bush on thursday to start bringing some troops home by Christmas, a move the senator said would send a powerful warning to the Iraqi government that time is running out. Warner, R-VA, Who spent the morning at the White House meeting with Bush's top aides, said the President next month should announce the withdrawal of a certain number of troops to send a "sharp and clear message throughout the region and the United States" that the commitment in Iraq is not open ended. "We simply cannot as a nation stand and continue to put Our Troops at continuous risk of loss of life and limb without beginning to take some decisive action" He told Reporters. Warner visited Iraq this month with Sen. Carl Levin, D-Mich., chairman of the armed services committee. Warner is a ranking member of the of the panel and former chairman. The Virginia Republican said He still would not support Democratec legislation championed by Levin that would call for Bush to bring troops home by a certain date. " let the President establish the timetable for withdrawal, not the Congress," He said

You sleasy fucking Politians make Me sick. You stupid Bastards don't You remember that Iraq had a government in place until The goddamn Texas Terrorist decided to take out Saddam for the oil? What kind of neocon bullshit is this? Sen. Warner wants to send a strong message to the puppet government that the unlawful administration of this country put in place. The stupid bastard says that the USA commitment in Iraq is not open ended. shit fire, how many times have We heard that swill. Hello out there You goddamned bunch of sorry, money grubing sacks of shit. We shouln't be in Iraq in the first place, but now that We are, all You can do is point fingers at the victims and say You better get Your shit together. Sen. Warner wants some troops home by christmas He says, He also says that We as a nation cannot continue to put Our Troops at continuous risk of loss of life and limb. Fuck Me till I cry, Who the fuck put the Troops in harms way in the first place? Was it the Iraqis? Was it the Iranians? Was it the Bogie Man? Hell no it was G.W. Bush who has never been in harms way in His life, it was Our arse licking elected representatives, democrat and republican, it was the loony christian right wing fundamentalists and Their deluded Followers. Now the crazy fuckers want to bomb Iran. This shit is incomprehensible to Me, I stand in awe at the gross stupidity of those Who support these greedy, evil bloodsuckers. How many Troops do You think will be home for christmas? I'm thinking not many if the "Decider" has His way.

The Philosopher

Our high school "social studies" teacher asked each of Us students to write a short eassay on Our philosophy of life and to hand them in at the end of class. The next day Mr W. said that He had picked out the essay that had really stood out to Him and that He would read it to the class. The paper was My friend Roger's. It was short and to the point " My philosophy of life is to be a Good ol' Boy." That was it. We all had a good laugh, even Mr. W. was laughing. There We were, expecting a long serious, boring paper. What We got was so much better, I know I laughed until My side hurt and others did the same. It was one of those "You had to be there" moments and even though it took place almost 50 years ago, I still chuckle when I think about it. I also remember Mr. W.'s comments, not word for word after all these years, but pretty damn close, at least close enough to get the idea across. He said, " poor ol' Roger, He'll never get anywhere in life if He persues His goal of being just a good ol' Boy. There's no future in it, the pool halls are full of good ol' Boys Who can't find work because they didn't get an education. They go from one dead end job to another, living from paycheck to paycheck and never saving one penny. The good ol' Boys are the ones that always seem to need a couple of bucks, till Friday, Their car is always broke down, so They always need a ride somewhere. These Guys are a dime a dozen, and They ain't worth that. One of these days Someone will say, "sure I know Roger, I like Roger, He ain't worth a damn, but He's a good ol' Boy." Just then the bell rang and We escaped social studies and headed off for Our next classes. I felt almost sorry for Mr. W. Roger was acting a fool for the fun of it and Mr. W. was so out of touch with His students that He didn't realize it. From that time on it was obvious that He thought Roger was a lost cause and quit calling calling on Him in class. In fact, He basically ignored Him for the remainder of the course, which suited Roger just fine.

Karl Rove resigns

Great, Karl says He's quitin' to spend more time with His Family, and also if He hangs out in His office after Aug. 07 He would have to remain until 2009. BULLSHIT, Something very sneaky is going on. I know, I'm paranoid as hell, but I just can't believe that Turd blossom is quiting because His family comes first. At least that's the way I read it. All of a sudden Karl decides that He should be at home with His Kinfolk instead of hangin' with G.W.B & Co. Hey thats fine with Me, and I just might buy it if I was one of the last remaining supporters of this present out of control administration We labor under at the present time. The truth of the matter is that I really don't buy anything these political types put out. I personally wouldn't give a nickle for any of these self serving, egotistical, morally challenged thieves that We now have running for the office of POTUS. There is not one of the candidates of either party that I would buy a fuckin' used car from, Hell I wouldn't even be able to afford a used car one of these shysters would have for sale. As usual, I'm getting way off subject, which was Karl Rove. I think He is coverin' His ass and wants to quit before the democrats grow brave enough to call Him to answer some very hard questions. I said "before" but should have said, "if" the dems get brave enough. Don't worry, Karl will still be there somewhere in the picture, just not where He will be the most obvious. The real predators keep out of sight until the time to strike comes around.

Our friends, the Saudis

The Saudis are such good friends of Ours that Our ever wise government has okayed a 28 billion dollar arms sale to Them. Great, good for the House of Saud. Politicians talk about spreading freedom and democracy around the world. They talk about how Our enemies are repressive tyrants Who hate Our freedoms and Our way of life. Holy shit, has Anyone looked at Saudi Arabia lately. Not exactly the best example of democracy with rights for All regardless of faith or gender. I am a simple Kansas bumpkin so I know I can't comprehend things of this magnitude. I just don't have the brains or common sense of Our foreign policy Experts. I am foolish enough to think that it ain't a good idea to dump all this firepower off in such a volatile area as the middle east. Oh yeah, I almost forgot, We also made a deal with those lovable Israelis for some weapons of Their own. To Me this sounds like pouring gasoline on a house fire, but as I said. What do I know?

190,000 rifles and pistols missing

I read in an article by Glenn Kessler of the Washington Post that the pentagon reportedly lost track of 190.000 assault rifles and pistols given to Iraqi security forces in 2004 and 2005. This sounds to Me like a whole lot of weapons to lose, but what do I know? This may be a very average number of weapons lost by any given army at any given time. Has it came down to the point where, with no so called victory in sight Our wise leaders have decided to arm everyone in Iraq and let what happens, happen? That would really be war on the cheap. Also in the WP was an article july 27 that told about the U.S. military plan to arm Iraqi sunni residents," to improve security and promote reconciliation at the neighborhood level." Gee whiz, that sounds like a brillant idea. Maybe this same logic could be applied here in the USA where gang violence is becoming quite a problem in Our cities. Law enforcement agencys could simply hand out weapons to the various gangs and let them go at it. After while, all fall down, gang problem solved. Of course there would be some innocent bystanders falling down too, but what the hell? You got to break a few eggs, don't ya know.

What the hell?

The Democrats have let Us down again. They have caved into Bush as is Their habit and made it easier to spy on Us all. I would like to think that this is all part of a plan to vindicate Us in the end by pulling off some kind of end run and flanking the White House, You know, something that We could all look back on and say, "man that was brilliant." Yeah, right, like that's gonna happen. How do We, as a nation, wind up with such greedy, self serving, unscruplous con artists making decisions that effect every living creature on earth in Our name? I don't have an answer to that question but I'm gonna do some thinking on it.

Scary stuff

I just watched a video by Max Blumenthal about Him attending a rally by "Christians united for Israel." These People are really spooky. Just hearing some of Their comments make Me wonder about Their sanity. They actually belive that They are the chosen ones of the evil god they worship. They give Me the willys. what is the most disturbing is that groups like this have ties to the white house and congress. Joe liberman was there and took the podium and spoke like a goddamned preacher. I was suprised that G.W. Himself wasn't there. The right wing christians are convinced that They are in a battle against evil which means Muslims, mainstream christians. secular humanists, atheists and Anyone else that doesn't share Their whacked out view of reality. They view all Muslims as evil, godless, worshipers of satan Who need to be destroyed before They destroy Israel. What really concerns Me is that These crazy fuckers may have enough political clout to influence the fools in the Bush administration to do something really stupid, like nuke Iran. If this happens, all bets are off and it will be a cluster fuck like nothing short of an asteroid strike.

conservative judges in action

It's getting so I hate to read the news anymore. I find Myself wanting to scream and throw things.I definitely need to chill out a little bit. Like today, I read in the NY Times opinion page about a man named Keith Knowles. Mr knowles is an Ohio prison inmate Who challenged His murder conviction in federal district court and lost. He was told by the court that He had until Feb. 27 to appeal. He filed the appeal on Feb.26 prepared to argue why He was wrongly convicted, only to be told that the judge had made a mistake. The appeal should have been filed by Feb. 24. The Supreme Court ruled 5 to 4 that Mr. Knowles' appeal was invalid. Can You believe this crap. 5 sorry assed lowlife judges sit on their butts and say the court won't hear His appeal because one of Their own made a mistake. A man is penalized because some idiot couldn't get His dates right. This is the way things are nowadays in amuraka. What kind of assholes are these people? This is a perfect example of conservative thinking in action. It makes Me sick to think that Our judicial system is so callous and uncaring. The only good thing about this is that 4 Judges dissented, saying " It is intolerable for the judicial system to treat People this way." I have no idea weather Mr. Knowles is guilty or not, but He damn sure deserves to have His appeal heard.

Cindy Sheehan Quits

Cindy Sheehan has resigned as the "face of the anti-war movement." And Who can fault Her for that? She did all She could do for the peace movement, in a world that seems to love it's wars, Thanks Cindy for all You have done. You have given Us a look at Ourselves, and the world We live in from a perspective of a grieving parent Who wanted to know just what Her Son died for. This question was never answered, and more than likely never will be. I don't feel a sense of disappointment so much as a feeling of relief for Cindy. It couldn't of been easy hearing and reading all the negative comments from the right-wing fear mongers, The roll of a peace activist is not as easy as that of a drum beater and, or, armchair general. The peace activist must constantly appeal to peoples logic. This, Cindy has done , again and again. You did what I hope I would do in the same situation. You did good Cindy and You deserve a rest.

RIP

My friend Mike and I met in junior high and became good friends. He was drafted into the army in the mid sixtys and after His discharge He moved to california and I lost track of Him. I saw Mike twice since He moved back to kansas ten years ago and that was only to say hi, after all the years that had passed I guess We just didn't know each other anymore. Well, anyway, when I heard that Mike had died last week I got to thinking about the great times We had together. His parent's house was located at the south edge of town and We would walk from there to the river which was about 1/2 mile south across a wheat field, I couldn't count the number of times We carried our fishing tackle and bait across that field and spent the day fishing, and exploring, While I was reminiscing about those times I remembered an incident that I had forgotten about. It was a very warm summer day and the river was up and running very swift. It hadn't rained where We were, but a few miles north it had rained heavily for a couple of days. There was a steep bank that We dug steps into so as to get down to the water's edge. the river was deep at that place even when running normally and on that day it was halfway up the bank and as I said was flowing very fast. I can't recall why I decided to try to get closer to the water, but I do recall the top step that We had carved in the steep bank giving away and the feeling of panic the second I realized that I was sliding towards that deep, swift water. There was nothing to grab hold of and I couldn't get back up. Mike heard Me holler and ran over to where I was and leaned over the bank, grabbed My hand, and pulled Me to safety. I remember We made kind of a joke of the incident and got on to doing whatever We were doing that day. Mike probably saved My life that day and I am sure I was aware of that at the time. Thinking about that long ago day now I can't remember ever thanking Him. So, Mike although it is a little late, Thank You, If it wern't for You I might not be here today writing these words, Rest in peace My Friend.

Disapointed to say the least

I see that the democrats have bowed down to g.w.bush and given him what amounts to a blank check to fund more blood letting in Iraq. For awhile there I thought the dems. were actually going to stand up to the white house and twist some tits. How silly of Me to entertain such a thought. With impeachment "off the table" and now this cowardly action I can't help but think that We the voters have been seriously dissed. These people were elected to do something about ending this insane so called "war on terror" Which has done far more harm to the citizens and country of Iraq than Saddam ever did. These people were elected to bring Our troops home so they could go about their real job of protecting the USA against agression not fighting an immoral war of agression. So what do They do? They give Their support to continue sending Our troops into harms way. I can only wonder what motivates this behavior, Whatever the motivation is it is clear that the democratic majority has no intention of ending the killing of Americans and Iraqis. If or when the decision is made to attack Iran will the democrats do the right and moral thing and oppose such action with all the strength they can muster? Or will They simply roll over? I hope that I am wrong, but the way things are looking ..we just may get a chance to find out.

Remembering Jerry Falwell

I'm not going to piss on His grave or throw a party but I damn sure won't miss the sorry bastard. He was a fear mongering loud mouth Who never passed up an oppertunity to show His willful ignorance or rob a senior citizen. He preached a gospel of hatred and intolerance that Hitler would have been proud of. He was a lying con artist who made a living robbing Those Who could least afford it. If I could write His eulogy, the best I could say about Him would be that Our country and the world is better off without Him.

pro life?

My friend tells Me that he votes only for those candidates Who are against abortion and stem cell research. He is very pro life, is My friend. He does however think that it was a good thing that We invaded Iraq. When I pointed out to Him that the war in Iraq was aborting thousands of lives, He told Me that He had never thought of it that way, but that it didn't make any difference in the way He felt. He just plain don't like the idea of killin' babies before they are born. I guess once a baby is born He or She is own their own. I'm not convinced of the sincerity of the pro life movement. They seem to be the same people who wave the flags most vigorously and beat the drums of war the loudest. they have shown little if any regret for the lives lost in Iraq and Afganistan, or here in the USA for that matter. People die right here in this country every day of lack of medical care, lack of food. lack of shelter, and yet the main focus appears to be on abortion and stem cell research. I believe it would better serve the human race and all life if the energy spent in protesting abortions was spent in learning how better to live in harmony with the natural world We all live in. Let's face it folks, all life on this earth is connected, and if We ignore that simple fact We are all in trouble. I am so sick and tired of hearing preachers talk about the godless secular humanists. They demonize the people Who fight the hardest for life on this planet, and I mean all life. Our pro life brothers and sisters need to realize We are all in this together, and We all need to work together to promote peace and goodwill. I hope We can, but I have My doubts.

I MISS THE SAVANNA

When I was a kid I used to wonder what it would be like to live at the dawn of Mankind. Back when fire was first used. I remember trying to imagine how it would be living off the land and following the herds. I can remember being fascinated by the thought of those ancient People, so differn't from Us, so seperated from Us by time. how hard their lives were We can only imagine. I also thought about how much the same as Us They might have been. Lately I've been thinking these same thoughts. although now from the perspective of a sixty year old Man, instead of that of a ten year old Boy. For a couple of hundred thousand years Our species managed to live more or less in a symbiotic relationship with Our world, Then somewhere around ten to twenty thousand years ago things changed, With the advent of agriculture, cities arose, beliefs were organized and capitalism was born into an unsuspecting world. Born tiny and bearing slight resemblance to the monster of today. It began I believe with the emergence of the merchants and developed from there. What happened to Us so long ago that made Us what We are today?

The Hunters

My introduction to hunting came when I was probably around eight years old. My Uncle Merle took Me rabbit hunting, I don't remember if I actually killed a rabbit, but I do remember Uncle Merle showing Me how to clean them. I can't say that I liked the idea of killing those rabbits but I can't remember being freaked out by it either. It was a learning experience, and We did eat them. My next encounter with hunting came when I was eleven or twelve years old. My friend Ralph got a 22 rifle for christmas that year and I went with them when His Dad took Him on His first hunting trip. The hunt consisted of shooting any bird that was in range and leaving them lay. Ralph and His Dad were especially fond of killing hawks and crows. I don't remember how many birds Ralph killed that day but I do remember the feeling of sadness that came over Me when I realized what had happened. The so called hunting trip was killing for the sake of killing, not for food, not for trophys, just senseless killing. We left those beautiful creatures dead on the ground and drove back to town. I never went hunting with Ralph again.

Poor Laura

Poor Laura, Nobody suffers more than Her and the President. Or so She said on Larry King Live. I didn't see the interview but I did read part of the transcript. The bitch makes Me want to puke. I'm sure She does suffer, but not over anything going on in Iraq. She is the mate of the most vile human being in the USA, so She must suffer daily when ever She looks at Him. Do I feel sorry for Her? Hell no. As far as I am concerned She is no better than Her husband. They are both disconnected from reality big time. How else could She make such a comment before millions of tv viewers. She is as heartless as any of the lowlifes that currently occupy the white house and that is saying something. Fuck Laura Bush and the rest of the Bush crime family

Molly Ivins is gone and She will be missed. It's a shame that She didn't live long enough to see shrub and company go down in flames. She would have liked that. Let's all raise more hell for Molly.
